MOVIE NIGHT

FRIDAY 15 OCTOBER 2021

Our annual Movie Night was originally scheduled for Friday 27th March, 2020, though was cancelled due to the covid pandemic lockdowns. We were due to screen the Lego Movie No. 2.

After 18 months of 2 weeks to flatten the curve, we finally got to hold our Movie Night! It was great news as this event is one of the favourite’s on the Buranda State School calendar, and a great fundraising event for the P&C.

Weather was warm and we had a great turn out, parent’s and kids alike. The BBQ was cranking, and there were quite a few Antipasto Platters that were enjoyed as well! Chris McGrath again did an exceptional job incognito as ‘Batman’ the Movie Master and braved the Hall with some other parents enjoying the movie with the kids.

Thank you again to all the parent volunteers that helped out on the night, setting up, manning the candy bar & parents bar and especially the packer-uppers! The clean up is always the most fun! Parent Helpers, you know who you are, thank you!! Jodie Holloway, Movie Night Organiser.

MOVIE NIGHT

FRIDAY 15 MARCH 2019

Batman Movie Poster B 2019.jpg

Our annual Movie Night was held on Friday 15th March, 2019, and this year we screened the Lego Batman Movie!

We had brave parents and daring kids that dressed up as their Batman and their favourite Superheroes, and we awarded prizes to the best dressed Adult & Child…. So many great costumes!

Thank you again to the few parents that put their hands up to help! You know who you are, thank you!  I know everyone is so busy, I understand as a single mum too well about being busy but we do these events for our kids and for our school community fundraising so really think about helping at one of our events.  Our kids love seeing us helping and being a part of these wonderful events.  Without the parent helpers, it’s impossible to provide these events…  Thank you!! from Jodie Holloway, Movie Night Organiser.

It all started at 5pm, the BBQ was cranking, the Candy Bar and the Parents Bar stocked with lots of snacks and drinks, and I could see lots of the kids sitting / lying on their pillows and blankets watching the movie in comfort!!

WElcome BBQ for all families

Friday 8 February 2019

All school families are invited to our inaugural welcome BBQ this Friday from 5pm to 8pm. It’s free, with sausages in bread and ice blocks, plus a shared dessert table.

Vegan, gluten free and halal diets will be catered for, so please join us for a few hours of food, fun and making new connections. Find out what the P&C has planned for the year and put some faces to names.

To help with catering and to let us know about any other dietary needs it would be great if you could RSVP on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/BurandaPandC/

End of year Live at Hollywood Disco

Friday 7 December 2018

Our graduating Grade 6s would like to invite you all to celebrate one last disco with them. Everyone is welcome — we’ve planned carefully to make sure this event will be fun for everyone, from Preps to Year Sixes.

Come dressed as your favourite Hollywood character!

Tickets are available on Qkr! and are $10 per child, including entry, pizza, slushie and a drink bottle. Adult entry is free (but you get to buy your food and drinks!).

We’re going for a different format this year — the disco starts at 6pm and it will be a closed event hosted by Creative Dance Industries. Kids will stay inside for the dance, but will come out for a short interval at 6.45 with a finish time of 8pm. We’ll have lots of ways to keep cool inside and noise levels will be appropriate for all.

Adults, please relax outside and reminisce about the year that has been, have a drink at our parents’ bar and make a gold coin donation for some delicious food!

As this event is hosted by the Grade 6s, they are staffing the stalls, but volunteer parents to help oversee them are always welcomed — please email Amanda if you are free to help out on the night (or before) alshepherd73@dodo.com.au.

Trivia Night — Friday 23 November 2018

a night of rollicking, adults-only fun!

Thankyou for being quizzical. It was no trivial matter, grey or otherwise. Saturday night's Trivia Comp was a race to the finish.

Champions of the night were: Wilder Trivia - with the massive score of 47

In 2nd place right on their tail was: A Fine Vintage - 46

Followed by:

TT's - the longest running school rep team in the comp

The Witches of East Brissie and a couple of blokes

Anti Einsteins - The longest running team in the School - 39

Quizlamic State - 39

The Tropical Subtropicals - 39

Three fine teams trawling the bottom for wooden spoon honours.

A special mention goes to Quizlamic State for the Highest score in a round

Thanks to Bryn, Cath, Tracey and Danni for their Trivial efforts over the last 5 years. The baton has been passed so stay tuned for next year, but for now it's time to thank everyone for the all the fun and excitement that was Trivia 2018.

We'd like to thank everyone who helped on the evening, particularly Anthea and Tracy in the kitchen doing the amazing job they usually do, along with Charlee, Carys, Angharad and Charlie. A special nod to Eugene and Roo in particular who has been a constant throughout our Trivia nights for the last five years as well as Clytie B. our refuse queen. Thanks for the tunes fellas.

Thanks to the P and C and anyone else who we have failed to mention. You are all important and we can't do this business without you.

Speaking of business - thankyou so much to all our sponsors and donators - especially school families.

Solstice Planting & Celebration — Saturday 23 June 2018

Camp Fire.jpeg

Our end-of-term family event this term will combine gardening with midwinter fun.

Mr Bryant is hosting a garden planting session from 2—4pm, and from 4—6pm the P&C will be selling warming pumpkin soup and desserts for a feast on the oval. Mr Bryant is planning a small campfire to add to the winter ambience, and to make some charcoal for his new biodynamic school garden beds.

We'll have some music from one of our parent's bands, Eugene and the Egg, so bring your picnic blanket and beanie and kick back and relax after our gardening working bee. BYO mug for the soup, which will be on sale for $5 (served with beautiful ciabatta bread from Gerbino's Italian Bakery). We'll also be selling hot chocolates and a range of other treats for children and parents, so bring your spare change.

So put the date in your diary: it’s a great chance to make the Cowley St entrance to the school look great, socialise with other school families, and raise funds for our gardening program. Bring gardening gloves and a sun hat for the planting

We’re inviting families to donate desserts to sell. If baking’s your thing please let us know what you’ll bring by emailing burandapandc@gmail.com

Buranda Fest 2017 Photos

The 2017 fete was a record breaker, making more than $18,000 for P&C programs. That’s paid for the school Environmental Education Program, and our music and sports instrument purchases, with change put towards air conditioning the school library.

Thanks everyone for an amazing effort on what was a really fun family day.

Photos taken on the day have now been uploaded to a Google Photo Album. Click on the button below to download photos of your children having fun.
